Utilities Management at 5 Susan

💡Electricity | Eskom

The electricity management in your home is overseen by a PrePaid Meter located above the fridge next to the DB Board. In the unlikely event that the meter runs out of credit, please report to us so we can top it up. If you cannot reach us, follow these instructions for a reimbursement.

ESKOM Meter Number: 0704 803 2440

To load electricity, you can purchase additional power through one of the following methods: your Banking App, EasyPay, PayCity, Prepaid24, or local ATMs. Here are some quick loadshedding tips:

1. Buy a token

2. Receive a 20-digit token number via SMS, slip, or screen confirmation

3. Enter the number into the meter

4. The token should load automatically

For any other electricity issues or water supply information, please contact us directly: Fearne 083 388 3800.

🕯️Loadshedding | Power Outage

Currently, there is no backup power in place, which highlights the importance of effective electricity management during times of loadshedding. On the kitchen counter, there will be four rechargeable lamps charging, ensuring that you have light available when needed. The lanterns on the dining room table are fully charged and can be utilized as a reliable source of light. As for the geyser, it operates on gas and is self-igniting, so there should be no issue with hot water supply information. Additionally, candles are also available for further illumination.

💧Water

The water supply information in PB is very consistent, so if there is an issue, please contact us. Our water supply comes fresh from the Kogelberg, making it perfectly safe to drink. Occasionally, it may appear discolored due to weather conditions. Please ensure taps are turned off properly! Additionally, during times of electricity management or loadshedding, it's important to stay informed about your water supply.

🛁 Toilets, showers & bath

The house has a septic tank, so please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure proper sanitation and avoid issues with your water supply. This is especially important during times of electricity management or loadshedding, where water usage becomes even more critical:

✅

Toilet Use – DO:

Flush toilet paper only.

Use water conservatively where possible to maintain your water supply.

❌

Do NOT Flush:

Wet wipes (even those marked as “flushable”)

Sanitary products, tampons, pads

Cotton buds, dental floss, or hair

Nappies or baby wipes

Grease, oils, or food scraps

Cleaning wipes, tissues, or paper towels

There are taps and a shower outside for washing sand off prior to getting into the bath or shower.

♻️ Refuse & Recycling

Please sort your refuse into Recycling & General, as instructed on the bins inside. It's important to manage your waste responsibly, especially during times of electricity management and loadshedding, to avoid any inconvenience. Refuse removal occurs every Thursday.

DO NOT leave refuse outside on the verge, as the baboons will make a mess. Once a bag is full, please place it in the marked bins underneath the house. If you hear the refuse truck, take it out to them. If not, PLEASE dispose of the refuse at the drop site at the entrance to Pringle Bay. The staff are very friendly and will assist you. The site is also open after hours for your convenience. Additionally, remember to stay informed about water supply information that might affect your disposal plans.
