🌊 Beach & Sea Safety Notice

Our village is known for its pristine beaches, clear waters, and natural beauty. While the sea is inviting, it can also be unpredictable. Please take note of the following safety guidelines to ensure your stay is safe and enjoyable.

🌺  Enjoy the beauty of Pringle Bay responsibly.

Your safety comes first – please respect the sea, the beach, and the community.

⚠️ Important Safety Warnings

  • No Lifeguards: Pringle Bay beach does not have lifeguards on duty. You enter the water at your own risk.
  • Strong Currents & Rip Tides: The sea here can look calm but can change suddenly. Always be alert to riptides and undertows.
  • Cold Water: The Atlantic Ocean is very cold year-round; hypothermia can set in quickly.
  • Shark Awareness: Shark activity is rare but possible. Always remain vigilant.

✅ Safe Swimming Guideline

  • Only swim in designated, calm areas near the shore.
  • Never swim alone – always have a buddy.
  • Keep children under constant supervision near the water.
  • Avoid swimming at night, in murky water, or when the sea is rough.
  • If caught in a rip current: stay calm, don’t fight it. Swim parallel to the shore until free, then return to land.

🚫 Beach & Sea Etiquette

  • No glass bottles on the beach.
  • Fires and braais (barbecues) are prohibited on the sand.
  • Respect wildlife – this is part of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve.

🐾 Dog Rules

PRINGLE BAY IS DOG-FRIENDLY, BUT PLEASE FOLLOW THESE RULES TO RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNITY:

  • Leashes: Keep dogs on a leash when entering/exiting the beach and in busy areas.
  • Voice Control: Dogs may run off-leash on the beach if they are under strict voice control and do not disturb other beachgoers.
  • Pick Up Waste: Always carry bags and clean up after your dog. Waste bins are available at main beach access points.
  • Respect Wildlife: The beach is part of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. Do not allow dogs to chase seabirds, dassies, or marine life.
  • Courtesy: Be mindful of children, other dogs, and visitors who may not be comfortable around animals.
